Nakeʻu Awai Designs was in Hilo at The 60th Annual Merrie Monarch Festival Arts & Crafts Fair from April 12 to April 15 to release its 2023 Spring Collection, with five bold prints in five fresh colorways to celebrate the brand’s five decades of creating fashion for Hawaiʻi’s people. Throngs of hula enthusiasts visited the Nakeʻu Awai Designs booth to shop men’s and women’s looks in the following prints and colors:
  • Kāhili Print in Metallic Gold on Eggplant Yarn Dyed Linen
  • Kukui Print in Key Lime on Pickle Yarn Dyed Linen
  • Maile ʻIlima Tapa Print in Kumquat on Ochre Yarn Dyed Linen
  • ʻOhe Kapala Print in Ocean on Chambray Yarn Dyed Linen
  • ʻOhe Kapala Print in Burgundy over Pahu Drums Print in Butterscotch on Flax Yarn Dyed Linen
Along with men’s pull-over aloha shirts, and women’s dresses, the collection also brought back the brand’s fan-favorite romper, and debuted its iconic gardenia and maiden hair fern prints on women’s jeans.
